Central Station
Central station has become one of the best budget areas in Sydney. That doesn't always mean low quality, with 5 star youth hostels offering excellent facilities quite cheaply. Central station is a transport hub based around Sydney's main train station, with regular train and bus links north through the City Centre to The Rocks and light rail or a short walk to Darling Harbour. There are lots of cheap places to eat, including in nearby Chinatown, cheap shopping at Paddy's Markets, and cheap travel/tour agents.
